San Marcos Record article

I was honored to be featured in the Neighbors section of the San Marcos Record on Sunday, December 12, 2010. There was even a small picture on the front page. The featured picture, shown large above the section I showed above was Pink Waterlily. The article continued with the rest of the text and three more pictures in B&W. This subject was suggested by the teacher at a workshop I attended last weekend.  After seeing the resulting image, I wanted to focus on the “rim lighting” on the tiny hairs, so I cropped it.  The original would have focused more on the winding tendrils and the wire fence.  Devil’s River State Natural Area, Del Rio, Texas

This demonstrates one of my favorite tools, ReDynaMix.  Before at left, after at right.  ReDynaMix can be used to give a kind of HDR look to a single image.  It brings out detail and in particular brings details out of shadows.
